Fusion Triathlon Club are proud to announce a new session to start the 2018-2019 season off as we mean to go on. As some of you may already know this is the clubs 10th year anniversary so what better time to take stock of what we provide our members and improve on what is already a very successful club. To this end we bring you Iyengar Yoga with qualified instructor Gillian McKelvie
Writing this race report sitting in the back seat of my VERY packed car on a VERY long journey back from Wales.
I was probably more stressed about the logistics about remembering everything and getting me, Marc, Mum and Dad and bike down to Tenby than anything else, once we were there I was remarkably calm. Continue reading “Race Update – IM Wales, 9th Sept 2018, Claire Coey-Niebel”
We received the following email with info on a volunteering opportunity at Glasgow Green during the 2018 European Games. It would be fantastic to get some club members along to sell our wonderful club to those interested.
Apologies for the short notice, the club was only offered this by Glasgow Life late this morning. The committee have done their very best to get this notice out as soon as we could. Thank you for your understanding.
As you may be aware Glasgow is hosting some of the events at the upcoming European Games. We even have some club members racing GB at the Age group European Triathlon Championships!! Scotsoun Leisure centre will be housing the Synchronised Swimming events and as such are closing their facilities to all other services meaning our swim sessions held there will be relocated from 23rd July-12 August (inclusive)
Ken McEwan has been working extremely hard to keep the club pool time as close to what we have during the closure of Scotstoun for the European games, despite being on holiday so huge thanks to Ken for that. Glasgow Life, have offered us the following slots below, this is quite short on what we currently have but it was very clear that we were not going to be offered anything more than this.
Monday 20:45 – 21:30
Tuesday 20:30 – 21:30
Thursday 20:30 – 21:30
All swims will be at Bellahouston and only a maximum of 2 lanes
The eagle eyed amongst us will have noted that we have lost 45 minutes from the Monday session and the Tuesday AM session in it’s entirety. That leaves us with the above sessions PLUS the Allander sessions as normal. This will clearly mean some compromise to allow all abilities to swim, therefore the club will be offering the following coached swim sessions during this period:
Monday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 3 & 4
Tuesday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 3 & 4
Tuesday PM Allander – Tech improvers (current attendees) + Lanes 1 & 2
Thursday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 2 & 3
Sunday PM Allander – Tech improvers (current attendees) + Lanes 1 & 2
We will run a Sign-Up genius for these sessions.
Those who wish to swim at a session that is NOT designated for their lane can feel free to come along and pick up the lane session plan from the coach free of charge – you will however need to pay the leisure centre to swim in the public lanes.
The Thursday run session that would usually depart from Scotstoun will now depart from the front doors of Bellahouston at 18:45
The thought processes behind this decision are as follows:
Allander tech session numbers have been low as we know, so we can add Scotstoun abilities 1 and 2 without issue of disparate abilities in lanes
Makes sense to keep Tuesday Bellahouston as lanes 3 & 4 as this is the majority of the attendees on a Tuesday Scotstoun PM swim
Lanes 2 & 3 are the busier ones at all other Scotstoun sessions so have been given fractionally more pool time across the week
I hope this does not cause too much inconvenience to you all and we look forward to seeing you at our temporary homes as from Monday (23rd July).

Enduroman Double Continuous Ironman
My last Iron distance race was 2015 when I did the Outlaw, which also included my last open water swim. I did manage to do a novice triathlon at Galashiels this year after Erin did the junior triathlon. This was to be another part of my journey, could I push myself to do the Enduroman Double Continuous?
It is with great sadness that the club must announce the passing of one of our longer standing club members and a great friend to many. Gordon Henderson tragically passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly last week while out in Spain riding his bike.
The junior kit shop is open: tri suits, bike shorts and short sleeved bike jerseys. Order deadline 22/02/18 – if you don’t have the order in by then you won’t get it I’m afraid
The much anticipated club kit shop is now open to orders. Click on the link attached and follow the instructions below. SHOP CLOSES 5th FEBRUARY!!!!!!
- Click on link
- Create your own account
- Order desired item(s) and pay Orca directly
- Delivery due mid March, this will come to a single address (mine) and distributed asap
- Make yourself available as soon as possible to collect kit from advertised club sessions nearer the time
NOTE: Some people asked about the Aero Pro Sleeved tri suit, Orca have put this on at the incorrect price, it should be £179 (still – ouch!!). I have delayed opening this shop to everyone as I have asked them to correct this error and put the Club Sleeved Tri suit up as an alternative, this is £119. If you would like the Club Sleeved suit please go ahead and order this as soon as possible, hopefully the more orders they receive for this the sooner the item will be made up and put into this order (I’m still working on them including this in our current shop).
Some items require only two orders per style (male, female, junior being different styles), others require six orders per style. Please order as soon as possible so Orca can let us know if we are close to order numbers and just not quite making. We may be able to push certain items if this is the case.
I’m determined to get kit to everyone before Bishopbriggs on the 6th May, members can help this by ordering as soon as possible.
Many thanks, happy training – race season is on it’s way!!
Each year friends of the club Jude and Jon Austin organise the fantastic Hogmanay Handicap charity run for Strathcarron Hospice. This is a lovely friendly event open to all abilities. It would be fantastic to get a load of club members along to this ever growing event while giving to a great cause. no set entry fee, all donations welcome on the day. More info………
